About Spark Ministry

Spark Ministry focuses on showing children from birth through fifth grade the love Jesus has for them, and how to spread that love to others! We want each child who enters our doors to feel welcomed and cherished, and we aim for them to leave feeling uplifted and ready to spread God’s Word!

NBCOC CHILD AND SAFETY POLICY

The New Braunfels Church of Christ Leadership remains steadfast in our commitment to the safety and well-being of all members, especially our children. In today’s world, ensuring a secure environment for our youth is of the utmost importance. With that in mind, we would like to take this opportunity to reaffirm the policies and procedures we have had in place for several years to protect our children. These guidelines are regularly reviewed and updated as needed.

Below is a summary of key procedures:

  • Volunteer Screening & Training: All individuals who wish to work with children or participate in youth programs must complete youth policy training and undergo a screening process, including interviews, reference checks, and criminal background checks. Teenage volunteers (ages 14 and older) must also be screened and supervised by an adult.

  • Two-Adult Rule: At least two unrelated adults must be present when supervising children in a classroom setting, except in unavoidable circumstances.

  • Classroom Visibility: Classrooms will remain publicly visible from the outside, and doors will remain unlocked during activities.

  • Check-In & Check-Out: Parents or guardians must check in and check out young children participating in E-Wing classroom activities from 9:15 a.m. to 10:20 a.m.

  • Restroom Policy: When possible, children will use public restrooms in a group setting. A single adult will never escort a child to the restroom unless in case of an emergency. Parents are encouraged to ensure their child has used the restroom before class.

  • Health & Medication: Children should not attend class if they are ill. Parents or guardians are responsible for any necessary medication plans.

  • Safety Oversight: Safety team members will be present when available, except in unavoidable circumstances and any concerns should be reported immediately.

Our goal is to foster a safe and nurturing environment for all children. If you have any questions, concerns, or suggestions, please speak with your shepherd or a staff member so that we may address them appropriately.

Thank you for your continued support and dedication to our church family.

In Christ,
NBCOC Leadership
